Herba Mastic Gum 500mg - 120 Capsules | Made in Canada

This was my first time trying mastic gum. I'm still on the fence regarding the medicinal benefits, but I can attest that the product has no funky smell/taste and it is easy to take with no difficulties. I sometimes have reactions to new things and so I was a little wary with trying this one, but there were absolutely no negative effects to taking it. I'll need to keep taking it a bit longer before I have a better sense of health improvements from it, but it seems like a quality product from what I can tell.

Just a PSA, these capsules are small but once they contact moisture they will expand - if you don't believe me, put one in a glass of water and see. So this could become a choking hazard if you get one stuck in your throat! It takes a while to soak up water as well, so you could have an outside that has gelatinized but the inside is still powder. Its kinda like konjac fiber, if you're familiar with that.Maybe thats part of why people use it for stomach issues, as it expands in the stomach and maybe forms a kind of coating for it? Anyway, fortunately I have not had issues with choking on one of these but I would advise that you drink lots of water with it and be careful.

I should start by saying that I used to have desserts and Turkish coffee with mastic gum in them and loved the smell and flavor they added. And the smell and flavor was the main goal, nobody talked anything about health benefits of mastic, so excuse me if I question the claims.However, it is not possible to objectively evaluate the benefits or the efficacy of supplements through ordinary home use; so, I will not get into this product's effectiveness, but you can search the Internet for the benefits of mastic gum in general.It comes in the form of capsules that I found to be easy to swallow. You can see a size comparison in the photo with a capsule of this product on the left and a One-A-Day tablet on the right. The capsules are about the same size as the One-A-Day tablets. The capsule forms are usually much easier to swallow than tablet forms. It does not have any smells or aftertaste during use; however, there is an interesting smell inside the bottle if you specifically smell to check. The smell is more like a chemical smell, and I must admit that was a disappointment because I love mastic gum smell and I wish they had that.The label on the bottle has various text as "operated", "owned", "prepared" in Canada, but I am not sure if any of that means it was manufactured in Canada. The product page, however, clearly writes "made in Canada". It does have an NPN number (Natural Product Number) that can be used to confirm that it was licensed in December 2023. The license is associated with only this brand name. It shows that the license holder is Herba Health Inc.The medicinal ingredients in the NPN product information page is only a single one. The Risk Information in the page contain:"Cautions and WarningsConsult a healthcare practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have diabetes mellitus, or Crohn's disease, or if you are taking hypoglycaemic agents, or hypolipidemic agents.Contra-IndicationsDo not use If you are allergic to the Anacardiaceae family, such as pistachio. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding."The bottle contains 120 capsules and the recommended dosage is 1 to 2 capsules, 2 times a day, which should have the bottle last for 1 to 2 months. The price of $40 CAD at the time of writing seems okay, especially considering that you can use a lower daily dosage too.While I cannot confirm the claimed benefits or the product's efficacy, I also see no reason to cut any stars from my rating. I like that it was made in Canada, but I wish they stated that more clearly on the bottle. I appreciate the fact that they come with their proper NPN number on the bottle.

I've only recently discovered the benefits of mastic gum and here's what I have to share about this particular version of it.First of all, they are capsules that you swallow so you don't have to worry about chewing this gum.Secondly, this brand has a Health Canada number on it so I can trust that the pills contain what the label says they do.I also prefer products that are third party tested and where possible made in Canada and this mastic gum checks both of those boxes.At 120 pills per bottle the value is there for me as I only take these before meals that I think might bother my stomach.I have eaten meals that would normally cause stomach issues and when I take two of these capsules before meals I am not experiencing any stomach issues at all. So for me, these appear to have the intended benefits described on the label.I'm happy with this supplement and think the value is there for my occassional use.

I got these for my husband who often has heartburn. I love that they are made in Canada and look just like any other capsule you might take. No smell or taste. We try to eat right and not taking any unnecessary medication that we don't need too and always we are looking for more natural methods. From research I've done they really do help however not everything will help everyone. I'm really happy to have something for my husband that is natural for his heartburn. I will have to update later as to whether or not they were effective for him. Not in glass so I had to change them over to a glass bottle. Glass is so much better for storing medicine, supplements, vitamins etc. So disappointed they are not in glass but unfortunately a lot of companies don't bother. You must take them with food and while it says to take 2 daily with meals he will only be taking the as needed. So we will see how long 120 capsules last...
